Dental Crowns

One of the most relied upon methods for tooth restoration are dental crowns.  If your tooth has become chipped, broken or weakened, a dental crown can be used to restore it to it’s natural state. A dental crown, also referred to as a “cap”, is a dental restoration that is installed over the top of an affected tooth to restore structure, functionality, and aesthetics.

To have dental crowns installed onto an affected tooth or teeth, your dentist will first shape your existing tooth to accept the crown with a snug fit. Once the tooth is shaped then your dentist will take an impression of the tooth and have a crown fabricated to match perfectly.

Crowns are typically made from porcelain, metal or a hybrid construction of porcelain fused onto a metal frame.  The material selection depends on each individual and which tooth is being capped.  A permanent dental adhesive will be used to attach the crown and that’s it. Dental crowns provide a safe and easy way to restore damaged teeth to a natural condition.

Our dental crowns are scanned, designed & fabricated on site (usually the same day) using our Planmeca milling machine.
